Volunteer

Our Pantry is almost entirely stocked and run by volunteers, and our Kitchen is cooked for by neighbors. There is a way in for nearly everyone to volunteer.

We welcome the opportunity to host volunteer experiences for
individuals, students and families, as well as groups small and large.
You might hold a food or toiletries drive, run a small fundraiser,
prepare meals for the Community Kitchen or Food Pantry, serve a meal,
sit on an event committee, help at the Golf Outing or an Evening of
Hope, lend a hand with administration, or serve on our Board of
Directors.

Ongoing Opportunities

Operation Hope of Fairfield depends on volunteers for day-to-day operations, on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or as-needed basis.

These shifts include serving lunches and dinners in our Community
Kitchen, assisting in the Food Pantry, providing receptionist help,
and picking up donations.

We also depend on volunteers to prepare meals or bag lunches for the Community Kitchen and to provide freezer meals and baked goods for the Food Pantry.

Event Opportunities

Operation Hope of Fairfield holds events throughout the year where volunteers are needed across a variety of areas: serving on event planning
committees, helping with pre-event tasks, and working the event
itself.

Events include the Postal Service Food Drive in May, the Evening of
Hope celebration in May, the Golf Outing in October, and Hope for the
Holidays in December.

Our needs and events are subject to change. See the events calendar
for what is coming up.

Group Opportunities

We have opportunities for groups of any size—service organizations,
corporate groups, clubs, Scouts, classrooms. Projects are not limited
to these ideas:

Gather at your own location and prepare large meals to feed 50
people for our Community Kitchen, or smaller freezer-ready meals
for our Food Pantry.

Organize and run food or toiletry drives to supply our Food
Pantry. Many drives are held on weekends - please hold donations
until the office is open, as we have no staff available when it
is closed. For large donations please contact us ahead of time to arrange delivery.

Gather at your own location and put together bagged lunches or
snack bags.
Hold a fundraiser at a company or community event.

Student Opportunities

Students 18 and older can help serve lunch or dinner in our Community
Kitchen at 50 Nichols Street, or help with occasional events.

Students of all ages can run food and toiletry drives, hold small
fundraisers like lemonade stands and bake sales, and prepare meals and
baked goods for both the Community Kitchen and the Food Pantry.
