Refill the Pantry Food Drive at Kings Highway Stop & Shop

June 7 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Columbia Alumni Club of Fairfield County (CUCFC), in partnership with the Refill the Pantry program, will host a community-wide food drive on Saturday, June 7, to benefit Operation Hope’s Food Pantry. From 9am-5pm, volunteers will be stationed outside Stop & Shop at 1160 Kings Highway Cutoff, Fairfield to collect non-perishable food donations. The effort will bring together volunteers from the Columbia alumni network and local church communities.

In addition to on-site collections, several Fairfield congregations will contribute by holding their in-house food drives and delivering the donations directly to the Stop & Shop location or the food pantry.

“Refill the Pantry” is a collaborative project sponsored by four churches: Our Saviour’s Lutheran (Fairfield), First Presbyterian (Fairfield), Grace Lutheran (Stratford) and Good Shepherd Lutheran (Monroe). “This is truly a collaborative community effort to fight food insecurity in Fairfield,” said Rich Lansing, a spokesperson for Refill the Pantry. “We’re grateful for the support of Columbia alumni and our local faith partners, whose generosity directly supports neighbors in need.”

Last year’s two collections brought in 3,500 pounds of food and $2,200. Organizers hope to surpass that total this year. A second collection for Operation Hope is scheduled for September 20.
