Help us stamp out hunger for families here in Fairfield! Keep an eye out for a postcard from your mail carrier announcing the annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 11, rain or shine, and well as a plastic bag in which to place your donations.
If your letter carrier is participating, as participation is strictly voluntary, place non-perishable food donations in the yellow plastic bag next to your mailbox on Saturday, May 11, rain or shine. Your letter carrier will collect the food and deliver it to Operation Hope. Many thanks to our donors, the Town’s mail carriers and the bag sponsors: Fairfield Motoworks, Pizza Mediterranean and Trumbull BMX.
Our Food Pantry is in need of regular sized (not large or bulk) instant ramen cups, peanut butter & jelly, pasta sauce & tomato products, baking mixes, Jello & pudding, broth & chowder, hot sauce, BBQ sauce & other sauces, crackers & cookies, cleaning products (disinfectant wipes, all purpose cleaning spray, etc.), paper towels, tissues and toilet paper.
This largest one-day food drive in America is sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and all non-perishable food items donated locally will benefit clients of Operation Hope of Fairfield. It is the country’s largest one-day food drive and provides residents with an easy way to donate food to those in need. The Letter Carriers’ food drive is held annually on the second Saturday in May in 10,000 cities and towns in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam.
