Annual Postal Food Drive Collects 5,500 lbs of Donations

Held in May, the National Association of Letter Carriers’ (NALC) annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive is the largest, nationally-held food drive. Locally, we were honored to once again be the recipient of the donations. With the support of the NALC, an American labor union representing non-rural letter carriers employed by the United States Postal Service, dozens of Fairfield and Southport letter carriers who volunteered to pick up donations at residents’ mailboxes, volunteers and countless donors, we collected and sorted 5,500 lbs of pounds of non-perishables to help stock our Food Pantry. Our volunteers worked on there different dates: receiving the food on Saturday May 13, moving the food into our pods on Tuesday May 16 and sorting the food on Saturday June 3. We are grateful for so many helping hands and donors to help and care for our neighbors in need ❤️🙏

IMPACTrumbull Spruces Up Housing Unit Gardens

Spring planting is in the air! Thanks so much to a small but mighty group of volunteers from IMPACTrumbull for recently sprucing up the yards at two of our housing units. The group cleaned up the garden beds and planted flowers to brighten the spaces. We appreciate their help to make these housing units feel more like home for our neighbors in need 🏡🌸🌱

The group also donated 20 Care Caddies of full size hygiene items for our pantry clients. SNAP does not cover non-food essentials such as personal care items so we are especially grateful to be able to offer these Care Caddies to our clients.

IMPACTrumbull is an organization of over 100 families in Trumbull who support our local community through hands on monthly projects and collections. IMPACTrumbull volunteers dedicate their time to organizations in Fairfield and New Haven Counties. Since 2012, IMPACTrumbull has completed over 150 projects and donated over 14,000 Blessings Bags and over 1,800 Care Caddies to local shelters and pantries ❤️🙏🏽❤️

Happy Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day offers a very special opportunity to honor those who open so many doors in our lives. Mothers, mothers-in-law, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, daughters, fathers, sons, uncles, friends, neighbors and mentors all touch our lives in significant and lasting ways. When you shower your mom or the special person who plays that role in your life today, please think of the moms struggling in our community. We thank you for helping us provide the most basic of needs to the most vulnerable members of our community. In difficult and uncertain times, those in need, more than ever, depend on caring and compassionate people like you.

Thanks for Supporting the Stamp Out Hunger Drive

Meet Lou, one of Fairfield’s wonderful mail carriers! He’s volunteered to collect pantry donations today in the Woods area for the Stamp Out Hunger Drive. Lou commented that many people have been leaving donations out since yesterday, so he was happy to collect then, too. This is an easy way to help our neighbors in need! Simply leave a bag of pantry donations by your mailbox and your mail carrier will kindly pick up. Rain or shine today!

Thank you to all donors and especially to all of our amazing mail carriers and the Fairfield post office for supporting our efforts to end hunger and homelessness, one person at a time 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
