IMPACTrumbull Stocks Pantry Freezers and Provides Care Caddies for Neighbors in Need

Last month, volunteers from IMPACTrumbull gathered to make a variety of freezer meals for our Pantry clients to grab and go. The group made 35 meals of chicken divan, shepherd’s pie and baked ziti in individual 9×13 trays. Freezer meals are so helpful for our clients to pick up, pop in the oven and enjoy at the end of a long day. We are deeply grateful to IMPACTrumbull for their continued support of our neighbors in need, and also from Costco, who provided a grant to purchase the food 🫶🏽 The group also donated sets of homemade desserts to distribute in the Pantry. Our clients are sure to appreciate the sweet treats! 🍪

And if that wasn’t enough, the group donated 20 Care Caddies brimming over with full-size toiletries for our clients. SNAP benefits do not cover toiletries and these items can really add up, so our clients are always appreciative of these types of donations.

IMPACTrumbull is an organization of over 100 families in Trumbull who support our local community through hands on monthly projects and collections. IMPACTrumbull volunteers – adults and children – dedicate their time to organizations in Fairfield and New Haven Counties. Since 2012, IMPACTrumbull has donated over 19,000 Blessings Bags, over 2,000 Care Caddies and countless other meals, Christmas gifts, camp kits, baby gifts, and school supplies to local shelters and pantries ❤️🙏🏽❤️

Fairfield Woods Middle School Holds Essentials Drive for Operation Hope

Following the Super Bowl and leading up to Presidents Day weekend, the students at Fairfield Woods Middle School held a pantry essentials drive to help stock Operation Hope’s Pantry. Monday was “Souper Bowl,” where students were encouraged to bring in canned stew, chili and soup. Tuesday through Thursday, each grade was assigned a few items, where they collected canned chicken and tuna, hot cocoa, ground coffee, ramen and Cup O’ Noodles. The Student Council worked with their advisor, Media Specialist Jackie Galante, to organize the drive. We are grateful to the school community, Student Council and Ms. Galante for helping fill our pantry shelves, especially during the winter months when our donations tend to be lower, making it harder to feed our neighbors in need. Thank you 🙏

Jennings School’s Two Part Effort to Help Neighbors in Need

We adore our youngest helpers from schools in our community! In the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl, Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day weekend, the Jennings School community gathered for a two part effort to help our neighbors in need. To celebrate the Super Bowl, the school held a Souper Bowl, where 100 items of canned soup and canned goods were collected. Also, that evening, during the “Cupid’s Carnival,” kids created Valentine’s Day cards and decorations, to be donated to Operation Hope and made for friends and family. An event combining giving back and having fun, the kids also played games and had fun.

The Jennings School community feels it is important to give back and show love and compassion to everyone. They love volunteering and collaborating with Operation Hope whenever possible to help others in need. We are deeply grateful to Jennings for helping those most in need in our community in small and big ways.

RLMS Student Leadership Club Organizes Drive for Operation Hope

Last week, the RLMS Student Leadership Club organized RLMS’ hugely successful drive for Operation Hope. The club is a group of students in grades 6-8 who are interested in planning events, shaping school culture, and serving the larger Fairfield community. Though advised by staff members Joelle Kilcourse and Kristiann Kassay, all activities are brainstormed at weekly meetings and voted on by club members. The Food Drive initiative was suggested by members of the group and was unanimously supported by the club. Together, the group made a goal of collecting 1,000 food items and made a plan to communicate this initiative to the larger school community through posters, visits to homerooms, “tell two friends at lunch” campaign, and emails through our school communication platform, ParentSquare. The club added an additional layer of fun by turning the collection into a Crew competition, with the winning Crew in each grade awarded $100 Amazon wishlists to divide equally among homerooms to purchase enriching classroom items! The response was overwhelmingly supportive, and we were THRILLED to exceed our goal. It was also wonderful for Student Leadership Club members to bag and box items, and then help move them into volunteers’ cars in order to fully understand the scope of their collection and how it will help our neighbors in need. Next year, the club is aiming for 2,000 items! Thank you to these wonderful student leaders for their drive and desire to help those less fortunate in our community.

Severe Cold Weather Protocol through February 22
