Dylan O’Brian, a 7th grader at Fairfield Woods Middle School, recently read Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” in health class. To encourage communication, organization, and self-management skills, the students had to initiate, plan, and carry out a community service project of their choosing. Dylan thought about how fortunate he is to always have healthy food available to him and to never have to know what it feels like to go hungry. He decided to organize a food drive to help fill the pantry at Operation Hope. Dylan emailed all of his neighbors and went door to door collecting donations, which he then delivered to Operation Hope last week. We are grateful to students like Dylan for taking the initiative to care for and feed our neighbors in need. Thank you, Dylan, and also to your neighbors and family who supported you in this endeavor!
