Operation Hope of Fairfield relies tremendously on you, our volunteers. Whether you are doing hands-on volunteer work, advocacy or raising much needed funds for Operation Hope, what you do matters. You form the backbone of our ability to provide affordable housing, run the Food Pantry, feed people in our Community Kitchen and offer services for our neighbors in need.
 
Not just this week, but every day, we thank all of you – the countless friends of all ages, businesses, organizations, the Town of Fairfield, elected officials and our Board – who share your time, treasure, talent, voice and support to advance our mission to end hunger and end homelessness. Together, we are helping people solve their crises and build stability in an environment in which compassion inspires dignity and hope 🫶

For nearly two decades, Carla Miklos has been the heart of Operation Hope of Fairfield’s mission to end hunger and homelessness, one person at a time. Her impact on our community is immeasurable, and while we will miss her daily presence, the foundation she built ensures our continued success. Please join us in thanking Carla for 19 years of unwavering commitment and wishing her the best in her retirement!

 
As we look toward our next chapter, we are thrilled to welcome Erika Eng as our Interim Executive Director. Erika brings a wealth of experience in non-profit work and a passion for our cause. We are confident that her leadership will provide a steady hand and fresh perspective during this transition period.

In Need of Full-Size Paper Grocery Bags for Pantry Clients

As you’re doing your grocery shopping, we would appreciate any paper grocery bags you can spare! We’re in need of full-size brown paper grocery bags to pack groceries and essentials for our Food Pantry clients. Handled and handle-less paper grocery bags are appreciated! We do not need take-out bags. Please drop off Monday-Friday, 9am-4:30pm, 636 Old Post Road, Fairfield, and please do not leave donations unattended. Thank you for helping us feed and care for our neighbors in need!

📣We are closing at 2pm today in observance of Good Friday. Both locations will close early – 636 Old Post Rd (the office and food pantry) and 50 Nichols St (the Community Kitchen). Lunch will be served at the Community Kitchen at 11:30-1 but not dinner. All are welcome to join us for lunch. Please do not leave any donations unattended outside either of the buildings after 2pm. We Say Goodbye to Longtime Friend of Operation Hope, Jean Sturges

The Town of Fairfield has lost a great one. Longtime friend of Operation Hope of Fairfield, and someone who made a tremendous impact in so many ways, Jean Sturges passed away March 1. Jean’s extraordinary generosity has left an indelible mark on this community, and her legacy will continue to be felt in the lives of everyone we serve. We are profoundly grateful for the time and spirit she shared with us. We send our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. Please read Jean’s full obituary here.

Easter Bags Delight Pantry Families

Hippity hoppity, Easter’s on it’s way! 🐰 We just received 25 adorable Easter gift bags through donations made to The Great Charity Gingerbread Project, which funded Easter goodies for over 100 children this year. The bags we received will be given to our Pantry clients with children. The bags are chock full of treats, including candy, toys, a chocolate bunny, filled eggs, a handmade chocolate dipped pretzel and more.
 
Thanks so much to Carole Canzoneri and her many volunteers and donors who prepared the Easter project for Operation Hope and other area non profits. This project requires many hands but most importantly, it’s done from the heart. We are so grateful to this group for always keeping our littlest neighbors in need in heart and mind. Thank you for making them feel so special all year round! 💛🤍
