Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he is activating Connecticut’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026, and remaining in effect until noon on Friday, March 6, 2026, due to a mixture of precipitation during this period that is expected to include sleet and freezing rain, particularly in the state’s four northern counties. A winter weather advisory has been issued in those areas.
Anyone in need of shelter or a warming center is urged to visit 2-1-1 at https://uwc.211ct.org/get-help/warmingcenters/ or call 2-1-1 to find your nearest warming center. Transportation can be provided if necessary. Please stay warm and safe!
Thanks to these Friends for Hosting Souper Bowl & 100th Day Food Drives in February
While this February brought some bitter cold and lots of snow, it also brought some very generous donations from our friends who hosted “Souper Bowl of Caring” and 100th Day of School food drives to help feed and care for our neighbors in need. Thanks to all of the organizers, donors and volunteers for making these drives a huge success. Our most heartfelt thanks to these friends!

Support “Cycle to End Hunger & Homelessness” Bike Ride from New Haven to Boston
Our friend Matt Rommens is doing a “Cycle to End Hunger & Homelessness” for Operation Hope next weekend! As a Fairfield resident, Matt is aware of Operation Hope’s longtime work to end hunger and homelessness. Matt wanted to channel his cycling passion into something greater, something for the community, and despite the mountains of snow that are sure to line his path, he is riding his bike the 150 miles from New Haven to Boston to raise money to support our work
Follow along on his adventure and support his efforts here. Thank you, Matt, and be safe!
